Lymphedema (LE) is a chronic condition
characterized by the abnormal accumulation of interstitial fluid due to

Therapy (CDT) CDT is comprised of an initial reductive (phase I) followed by an
ongoing, individualized maintenance phase (Phase
II).

Reduce subdermal fibrosis.
Improve the skin condition.
Ehance patient's functional status.
Enable the patient to adhere to an

SIGNS AND
SYMPTOMS:
Any time after surgical removal of
lymph nodes and/or radiation treatment, onset of swelling in the arm or leg.
Swelling in a blim or other body area
that presents during adolescent or later for no apparent reason.
Swelling that presents at birth or
infancy.
TREATMENT: When lymphedema is
diagnosed promptly and Complete Decongestive Therapy/CDT is begun early,
